Today was a great day. Church of course and that was good. After church Sydney, Rachel, Emily & Brianna headed over to Brookwood to volunteer with the Gifts of Love people who put on the reunion. Brianna & Emily worked the sign in table. Sydney & Rachel did face paint. Me & Bay headed over to Brookwood around 2. The reunion went great. When I first got there I ran into the famous
Kathryn, Kelly, Greg & Madelyn Ellis. Kathryn is quite the miracle being born at 24 weeks weighing 14 oz and was 11 inches long! Kathryn was BEATIFUL! Sydney got to paint Madelyn's face ... she is such a cutie! Any of you who remember our time in the NICU probably remember hearing about Baby Clair. Clair's mommy, Amanda, was the 1st mommy to introduce herself to me in the NICU. Bay & Clair were both 29 weekers and were kinda neighbors for quite awhile in the NICU. Clair is about 5 weeks older than Bay but had an extended stay in the NICU due to some respiratory problems. I have kicked myself for not getting contact information from Amanda before we left the NICU and we have wondered about Clair many times. Clair & her family were at the Reunion!!! I was so excited. Clair is doing GREAT!! She is almost completely off oxygen (only requiring it at night) which is just amazing! I got to have a great talk with Amanda & we shared our stress & worries and exchanged phone numbers before we left! I also got to see baby Olivia who was another 24 week baby that weighed 1 lb 1 oz at birth who was in the NICU 5 1/2 months. She went home during our 2nd week in the NICU. Olivia is doing great also! She is starting to toddle around. Olivia's mom had some great things to say about the Early Intervention Services which was great to hear. It was so neat because Olivia's mom picked out several of Bay's weak points after being around her for only 15 minutes. lol There were several other mom's who came up to me and remembered us. Everyone looked so good & it was therapeutic for me to be around other people who worry/stress/and pick apart everything. I definitely fit right in with all of the anxiety floating around in that room! We also got to see Dr. Mena who is the doctor that was with us when Bay was born and the precious man who let me kiss my baby for 20-30 seconds right after she was born. I love that man! Dr. Mena was very sweet & it was great seeing him! One of our favorite nurses, Joy, was there. I was very worried about the reunion but it ended up being WONDERFUL & I was so glad we went!!!
In other GREAT NEWS, Emily Custred was baptized tonight!!! I am so proud of Emily & the person she has become! We love you Emmie! After church we had a going away meal for Daryl Becky Rachel & Emily. I dont even wanna think about them leaving and I am not looking forward to it. They are definitely going to be missed! More tomorrow.
